The Just Understand Math Program!

The Just Understand Math Program (J.U.M.P!) is a community based program, created in April 2019, for students of all ages residing in Edinburgh 500 Chaguanas and neighbouring communities, who have difficulty understanding the basic and foundational concepts of Mathematics. There are three facets:

After-school Math Tutoring for students at the primary and secondary levels

An Adult Math Beginner Course for students 18 years and over who have issues with the fundamental concepts of Mathematics

An Adult & Repeater CSEC Math Course for students 18 years and over who need to successfully pass the CSEC Math examination
Mathematics develops our reasoning, helps us to have analytical thinking, quickens our mind and its use can be applied in day-to-day activities. To gain entrance to Secondary School, students must take the Secondary Entrance Assessment of which Mathematics is an integral part. To start a career and build a future in Trinidad and Tobago, one of the requirements is a pass in Mathematics at the CSEC level.
Mathematics is one of the subjects that students struggle with, at both levels. Some local students are lucky enough to be in a position to afford extra Mathematics lessons to help them be successful in their studies. But for many others, who really need extra help, lessons outside of school are impossible due to financial constraints in the home and the associated costs.
The aim of J.U.M.P! is to provide sponsored tutoring for students who cannot afford it, to help them grasp the core concepts of Mathematics, achieve passes at their respective levels of study, and secure a brighter future as a result.
